José Cárdenas's letter to Father Anastacio de Jesús Romero (WA MSS S-861;C1784) congratulates Jesús Romero on being elected Commissioner Visitador of their Appostolic College. He discusses Mision de Espíritu Santo's problem with the Tahuacanes (Tawakoni) Indians, mentioning that he has asked the Governor of the Texas Province for help. Cárdenas's report on the misson (WA MSS S-862;C1784) describes the routines, contains statistics on the number of marriages, births, and deaths, and describes the customs of prayers, masses, and Holy Days.
